Healthy Kids Create Healthy Communities

Camp Brave Heart Flyer

May 1, 2020

Cypress Basin Hospice announces the 11th annual Camp Braveheart – a day camp for children ages 6 – 13 who are dealing with grief from the death of a loved one. At Camp Braveheart we develop a foundation for children to cope with loss and grief. That foundation is based on three principles. Camp Braveheart is: 1) A safe place physically, spiritually, and emotionally for campers to explore feelings, emotions, experiences, and fun in a supportive community setting; 2) A place where community is created, acknowledged, and embraced as the best way for us to understand our responsibility and connection to each other; and 3) A place where the value of each person as a beloved daughter or son of God is experienced and known by reminding each one that God loves them and cares for them.

At Camp Braveheart the campers will be involved in arts, crafts, conversation, play, food and fellowship, and a memorial service to help them experience a sense of belonging and support in a welcoming environment. Camp Braveheart is held in three locations. This year’s camps are at:

Paris, TX, 1st United Methodist Church, June 18-19, 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM;
Sulphur Springs, TX, 1st United Methodist Church, July 9 – 10, 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM; and,
Mt. Pleasant, TX at a location and date yet TBD

You can go to www.cbhospice.org to fill out an online application for any of our three camps.

Because of community sponsors, generous gifts from individuals, and facilities provided by area churches, Cypress Basin Hospice is able to provide Camp Braveheart at no cost to campers and their families. Camp Braveheart is staffed with dedicated professionals and volunteers who are called to work with children and who seek to help children continue to mature physically, spiritually, emotionally, and psychologically.

We encourage you to help us by using the gifts and skills you have been given to make a lasting contribution to a child and, through that child, to our communities. Contact me, Mark A. Davenport, m.davenport@cbhospice.org, or you can contact Misty Walton, Volunteer Services Coordinator, m.walton@cbhospice.org to offer your time and talent to the children of Camp Braveheart. If you are unable to contact either of us via e mail, we can also be reached at 903 – 577 – 1510.

Cypress Basin Hospice is committed to helping bring health and wholeness to the children of the communities we serve. We truly believe that healthy kids create healthy communities!! We treasure your support, commitment, and participation to serve our children.

Grace and peace,

Mark A. Davenport                                                                                                                                    Director of Bereavement Services
